About Te Kauwhata
Te Kauwhata is a small rural town located 45 mins from Auckland and Hamilton just off the Number One Highway. Town population is around 1000 – 1500 people. New houses and sub-divisions are being built now.
The town has a primary and secondary school, a day care and play centre. Sports facilities include a golf course, rugby fields and squash courts.
There is a retirement village with a rest home attached to it. The small township has a general store, book shop/post office, credit union banking facilities, a small supermarket, a tavern, two dairies and takeaways, a pharmacy and a café. Various land agencies are also represented in the town.
The town services a large rural population so farming suppliers are also well represented.
We are a small town with good access to the major cities and services. The spectacular beaches and scenery of the Coromandel Peninsula is only a one and a half hours drive. This location is an ideal base for exploring all that the top of the North Island has to offer! You will be within short driving distance from sandy white beaches, national park walks, ski slopes in the winter months and the thermal geysers in Rotorua.
